The role of cultural heritage

Cultural heritage is of great value to children in a society. Young members of the society bank on cultural heritage to learn how to fit in as respectable members of the society. Through cultural heritage, young members are exposed to cultural norms and practices of a community. This exposure gives children and youths an opportunity to learn what is regarded as proper behavior by the community. Socialization enables meaningful interactions that result in good behavior being upheld by members of a community. Besides the character development angle, cultural heritage ensures economic trades practiced in a certain culture are passed down to the young.

A bond is born out of interactions by individuals sharing a culture. Constant interaction births fondness within a community. People of the same culture are likely to be involved in the welfare of each other. Cultural heritage ensures somebody in need enjoys communal support from the larger community. When a person has a celebration, other people belonging to his culture come to celebrate with him. In the same way, these people come to console a person they consider their neighbor and part of their society. This level of involvement in the welfare of neighbors offers a valuable support system.

To have a strong sense of belonging, you need exposure to cultural heritage. Having a solid identity helps with individuals in their quest of establishing their role to play in a society. Cultural heritage gives a person a sense of belonging since the person can relate with a certain group of people. A strong identity will give you the confidence to go about life knowing you are part of a larger group. Through cultural identity, a person chooses how to best live his life borrowing from cultural aspects in the immediate environment. Questions such as what religion to follow are answered by the predominant practice within a region.

Since people who share the same culture tend to view life similarly, a strong sense of unity is inspired. Unity makes it possible for neighbors to live and work together for the advancement of the group. Development is more rapid when members of a group work and live in unity since there is minimal opposition. Unity ensures that problems are handled from a communal approach since they are a bother to everybody. This sense of unity is inspired by sharing a common language, similar dressing and same cuisines.

Art has enjoyed advancements that come from similarities in backgrounds tied to cultural heritage. Living in harmony creates a situation of familiar way of thinking. This has made it possible for artistic works to resonate in a shared setting. Decorative elements such as use of jewelry, piercings or face painting have their roots in cultural heritage. Circles that share a similar way of life are responsible for the diversity experienced in art. Each circle is responsible for inspiring its art form that resonates with its tribe. Artistic inspiration is a manifestation of cultural heritage within a tribe as it tells different stories about cultural aspects held in high regard.
